Jupiter rising over Sandusky Bay at the edge of Lake Erie - July 1st 2010
Every morning during July we are greeted by one or two new
Hibiscus flowers outside the house, but we never see them blooming. This was a
perfect use of the time lapse camera, unfortunately it is difficult to capture
a sequence from full daylight to total darkness so it was necessary to stop and
reset the exposure twice.
Once the movie was assembled I was surprise was how fast the
flower opened once the Sun went down. There is also a single frame at 1:07am where the petals flipped backward with
great force and the bloom was complete.
